The September meeting of the Potomac Geophysical Society will be held September 16th at the Fort Myer Officers’ Club in Arlington, VA in the Campaign Room.
This month’s talk will be:
Whoosh – The Avalanche Infrasound Source Mechanism
by Dr. Keith L. McLaughlin (SAIC, McLean, VA).
Dr. McLaughlin began modeling infrasound sources, propagation and sensors in the early 1990s to provide monitoring system performance projections in support of the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) negotiations. An understanding of the physics behind the many natural and man-made infrasound sources is useful in assessing infrasound monitoring as well as just plain fun.

A vegetarian meal can be substituted by request.
