There will be a departmental colloquium on Friday at 11am in room MCB 1207 (Microbiology building). The speaker will be Dr. Lindy Elkins-Tanton, the new director of the Department of Terrestrial Magnetism at the Carnegie Institution of Science. She will present “The Siberian Traps and the end-Permian Extinction: Coincidence and Causality”.
The department will provide drinks and refreshments in the foyer of the Geology Building starting at 10:30 am.
Also, we are considering moving the department colloquium to Friday afternoons starting this Spring.
